Recent Baptist Technological Advances
Learn more about a few applications of new technology at Baptist:
Baptist's Nursing Intranet Site
As part of its commitment to providing technology and encouraging professionalism, Baptist offers nursing information and resources at nurses' fingertips. Baptist Nursing Online is an intranet site created and updated by Baptist nurses for Baptist nurses. This extensive site features news, events and monthly educational opportunities, and it highlights many of the outstanding nurses providing quality care to patients every day. A complete library of the latest nursing texts and references are available along with access to a variety of Internet sites — all providing up-to-date information in a convenient way for nurses.
Electronic Medical Record
Advances in information technology are cornerstones in providing leading-edge, high quality and safe patient care at Baptist. Examples of this new technology include electronic nursing documentation with clinical alerts and medication administration using barcodes. In 2005, Baptist began a multi-year project to implement the latest innovative technological systems and processes to support the delivery of quality patient care and to improve nursing practice. The clinical information system – or electronic medical record – allows health care providers to make more timely and informed decisions through access to complete patient records from any location, at any time. It also will eliminate manual documentation, resulting in increased accuracy, and will provide real-time results and alerts for changes in patients’ conditions, medication needs and overall care.
