Consistently ranked among the top hospitals and health systems in the nation, the Baptist Memorial Health Care system offers highly trained professionals to meet the needs of surrounding communities. With 14 hospitals, numerous clinics and minor medical centers and a network of more than 2,700 physician providers in 34 specialties, people throughout the Mid-South can count on Baptist as a skilled, dedicated and caring health care provider. Baptist nurses are consistently named among the best in the region and because of Baptist's belief in the total care of patients, the hospitals' pastoral care departments concentrate on the spiritual needs of patients.

With six hospitals in the metro area, the Baptist system is centered in Memphis, Tenn., but reaches out with hospitals in West Tennessee and North Mississippi. A not-for-profit organization and community partner since 1912, Baptist spends millions each year reinvesting in and caring for the community through projects promoting community.

Baptist's 90-plus years of service to Mid-South communities would not have been possible without the commitment of highly trained, dedicated staff. Since its beginning, Baptist has been driven by its not-for-profit mission, which mirrors the three-fold mission of Christ – preaching, teaching and healing. And Baptist colleagues are the cornerstone of the institution, preserving the spirit of that mission by continuing to uphold the sanctity and dignity of life. Because of their dedication, Baptist employees have developed a reputation as compassionate, skilled professionals who truly love what they do.

Leadership
Baptist has a tradition of strong leadership. From the first hospital director, A. E. Jennings, to the current president and CEO, Stephen C. Reynolds, Baptist has flourished under capable and highly trained leaders. They have guided what began as a 150-bed hospital to what became the nation's largest private hospital at one point. Under current leadership, Baptist has continued to grow to better meet the needs of the Mid-South — becoming one of the largest not-for-profit health care systems in the United States and one of the nation's top-rated integrated health care delivery systems.

Doctors
Since the hospital opened, Baptist's medical staff has included some of the most noted physicians in the world. During the years, these physicians have achieved many medical firsts and health care milestones at Baptist, repeatedly placing Memphis and the entire Mid-South on the international medical map. Because of their dedication to their profession and to the people of this community, Baptist physicians have helped shape Memphis into a vibrant, growing health care epicenter.

Nurses
Florence Nightingale said, "The very first requirement in a hospital is that it should do the sick no harm." At Baptist, nurses partner with physicians and other members of the health care team to stay true to this ideal. Working within the structure of a professional practice model, Baptist nurses coordinate competent, compassionate care in a patient-centered and safe environment. With their patients at the center of everything they do, Baptist nurses strive to help patients restore and maintain health.

Support Staff
Beside the physicians and nurses at Baptist are thousands of colleagues who work toward the same goal – high-quality, compassionate patient care. Each colleague is an important part of Baptist's daily operation, whether in purchasing, facility services, security or the cafeteria. Like a family, Baptist employees pull together as a team to deliver the best services and programs to other employees, patients and their families.
